Valerie J. Shinbaum, a co-founder of Body, Mind, and
Balance, has been a practicing psychotherapist
since 1992. She graduated from Villanova University with a Master of Science in
Counseling and Human Relations, and is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the
Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. She is a National Certified Counselor, and a
Master Addictions Counselor. Her private practice locations are listed
above. Ms. Shinbaum has treatment expertise in the following areas

Shinbaum is an adjunct psychology professor at Delaware County Community
College, Immaculata University, and Montgomery County Community College. She
is a member of the North Penn Chamber of Commerce and the Midlantic Business
Alliance. She has served as a facilitator/trainer and presenter for group
workshops and continuing education conferences at the local and national level.
In 2007, Ms. Shinbaum presented at the American Institute for Medical
Education’s Creativity and Madness conference in Santa Fe, NM, which was
attended by 1,000 participants. She will present for AIMED again in Hawaii in
2008. Ms. Shinbaum has been a keynote
speaker in the area as well. She is available to present on any of the above
topics for group workshops and continuing education conferences or to deliver
keynotes. If a group has a specific topic need, Ms. Shinbaum will design a

Ms. Shinbaum keeps her life in balance away from work by pursuing as many of her lifelong passions as possible, sometimes trying to find ways to combine them. They include fitness, music, films, cooking, and travel, among others. She taught aerobics and was a personal fitness trainer for 15 years at area gyms, and served as a ride leader for the Delaware Valley Bicycle Club. She has participated in distance bicycle rides and enjoys outside trail hiking, swimming and practicing yoga. Her winter passion for skiing keeps her heading west to ski in the Rockies, Tetons, Sierras and the Wasatch Range. Ms. Shinbaum attends to the balance in her life on a daily basis, and believes in making the time for work, creativity, movement, proper nutrition, adequate rest, leisure pursuits and downtime. Ms. Shinbaum knows the positive rewards resulting from an ongoing commitment to the mental, emotional and physical aspects of maintaining a balanced life.
